Pilar Fernandez Maas' Story
Pilar Fernandez Maas is the founder and President of Pilar Event Planning. Educated in merchandising, fashion and interior design, Pilar is a distinguished tastemaker known for her enchanting and sophisticated style toward event planning. She has a keen eye for beauty and is an expert organizer and manager. Today, Pilar is sought after for her creative and unusual ideas, exquisite decorative accents and absolute attention to detail. Pilar’s work has gained her tremendous praise within the event industry and beyond.
Pilar began her career more than 20 years ago working for Nordstrom. Holding multiple positions there, Pilar was responsible for creating store-wide events including fashion shows, product launches, and high visibility trunk shows for luxury brands. Additionally, Pilar managed numerous off site parties for clients such as the San Francisco Opera, Ballet and Symphony, the East Bay Symphony, and Nordstrom Annual Shareholder’s Meeting.
An expert in overseeing large scale events for non-profit organizations, Pilar’s work includes coordinating the Legal Aid of Marin’s Annual Gala for three consecutive years (2008-2010); one of the largest fundraising events in the county. In 2006, Pilar served in dual roles as volunteer chair and event coordinator for the San Domenico School Annual Spring Fundraiser and Gala helping to generate over $250,000 for the school; she planned the same event in 2008 and 2009. Pilar also coordinated San Domenico School’s Author Luncheon from 2006 through 2013 as part of the school’s annual Book Fair which attracts over 300 local visitors each year.
A native of Marin County, Pilar lives in San Anselmo with her husband and son.
